Here in our beautiful state of Florida, the flu season typically last from October through May, with most flu cases occurring in the months of January and February.
The Good News is that influenzae vaccines can be given at any time, even later in the season (December through March), and still help protect you from influenzae.
Most people should get the flu vaccine, but especially those of you who are older, or have multiple medical problems.
Access Point Healthcare carries flu vaccines in addition to a variety of other vaccines (e.i. Hep B, TdaP, MMR, Shingles, any many others.)
As a service to our patients, Flu Vaccines are only $35 if paid cash at the time of services. Many insurances do cover the flu vaccine in full.
Though you can receive the Flu Vaccine if ill without a fever, we discourage it. Be aware that the vaccine does take a few weeks to give it full protective effects.
The flu mutates each year, this means that the flu vaccines needs to change every year to fight against the newly mutated virus; therefore, a new vaccine is required every year.
